8th Annual Awards Dinner:
A Celebration of Sleep Leadership
On March 3, 2008, the National Sleep Foundation held its 8th Annual Awards Dinner: A Celebration of Sleep Leadership in Washington, DC. At the event, NSF presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Charles A. Czeisler of Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for his dedication to excellence in sleep science, commitment to mentoring young investigators and advancement of sleep in public health policies. NSF also honored The Honorable Mike Honda with the Policy Leadership Award, Paul G. Allen of the Allen Institute for Brain Science with the Research Leadership Award, and Cephalon and Takeda Pharmaceuticals with the joint Corporate Leadership Award. Special Guest included Woodie Kessel, MD, MPH, Assistant Surgeon General, U.S. Public Health Service (Ret.), who skillfully served as the Master of Ceremonies and the evening concluded with hilarious entertainment by The Capitol Steps. The event raised over $600,000 for NSF’s programs and was attended by nearly 400 guests!
NSF thanks the many individual contributors and corporate sponsors whose generous donations helped make the 8th Annual Awards Dinner a terrific success.
